The soul becomes dyed by the color of its thoughts -Marcus Aurelius

The color in which each of us chooses to live life and thus dye our thoughts is different. Some live it in tones of sepia, some in grey, others in black and white and yet others in vibrant colors. Each has his own tints to fill in and own tones to discover. I have had my own patches of all four, but I think sepia as well as black and white have contributed their shades to the colors of this tapestry too, while grey has helped me get through the realm of the shadows of my soul. Thus, I find life vibrantly colorful and everchanging.

I thought I had capped my pen and closed my box of crayons two decades ago when I chose to become a surgeon’s wife and later a full- time mother while trying to continue as a part time ENT surgeon. But, fate as usual had something else in mind. Circumstances made me return to my pen by way of my laptop and begin spinning stories again. This time round, I was determined to use the full box of crayons, which encompassed more shades of life than before.

Writing was the only way my true self could creep out, cracking a wall, built bit by bit by the lockdown and familial responsibilities. It was an escape into the realm of possibilities, where the world was as it should have been, not as it is, and where anyone could visualize the vibrant colors of the rainbow of their dreams.

I am Sumedha and I am just another story teller who hopes to relate with you through the vibrantly versatile world of my verses and tales. Because, in the words of George RR Martin, “ A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only once”!!!

Thoughtful and insightful as always Sumedha. Agree that despite all our efforts, society remains it’s focus on make providers and female nurturers. We all need to keep chipping away at it in our own little way to ensure that our daughters do not suffer the same overt bias.

May I simply say what a relief to find a person that really knows what they are talking about on the net. You certainly realize how to bring a problem to light and make it important. More people need to check this out and understand this side of your story. I can’t believe you are not more popular given that you surely possess the gift.
